Celebrating 100 Years of the McCleary Museum and Event Center Building
Exactly a century ago, in April 1926, this landmark building was dedicated to Ada L. McCleary, the wife of our town’s founder. Since that day, these walls have stood as a silent witness to the growth, challenges, and triumphs of our community. From its decades as a spiritual sanctuary to its current role as the guardian of our local heritage, this building remains the soul of McCleary.
Join us in celebrating history with a short program and refreshments.

Harvest Moon- Quinault Basket Maker and Storyteller
Have you ever wondered what life was like for the Native people of the Northwest Coast long before modern times? On September 26 at 2PM, the Event Center at the McCleary Museum is bringing in a very special guest who can paint that picture for you in a way you’ll never forget.
Harvest Moon is a Master Basketweaver and Storyteller who has spent her life studying and sharing the rich culture of the Coastal Salish Native people. Her presentations are unlike anything you’ve seen in a textbook. She brings in real, hands-on artifacts that you can see up close, and she speaks with the kind of passion that only comes from someone who truly lives and breathes this history.
She’ll take you into the world of the Northwest Coast Tribes — a world full of abundance, deep traditions, and a culture so rich it has been passed down through generations for thousands of years. Harvest Moon shares stories that connect the past to the present, and she has a gift for leaving her audience seeing Native American heritage in a whole new light.
Her name says it all. Harvest Moon means “a light shining forth in the midst of darkness” — and that’s exactly what she brings to every room she walks into.
Her work has earned her serious recognition. She has served two terms on the Washington Commission for the Humanities, received grants from the Seattle Arts Commission, and was honored as an Artist in Residency speaker across the Pacific Northwest. Most notably, she received the Peace and Friendship Award from the Washington State Historical Society for her outstanding contributions to the understanding of Northwest Indian Heritage.
This lecture is open to all ages and admission is by donation — so bring the whole family. Come ready to listen, learn, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the people who called this land home long before any of us arrived.

What does “Admission by donation” mean?
When an event cost is listed as “admission by donation” we ask that you make a donation that you are comfortable with in order to attend. We want our community to be able to attend events but also understand that there are times where funds may be tight and you just don’t have more than a few dollars to spare. Our events range in costs to our organization so whatever you are able to contribute goes towards paying for the performance and future events. If you have an event that you want to attend but are concerned about cost, please reach out to us.
Are you Wheelchair accessible?
Yes! We have multiple disabled parking spots, ramps and one ADA bathroom. Our event center seating is bench seating but we can easily accommodate you and your party. Reach out if you have any questions or if you need to request help ahead of time.

We are working to add more events for you to enjoy. Check back often and follow us on social media for updates to our event schedule.
Tickets are available at the door for events unless otherwise stated. If you prefer to buy tickets in advance not using our online service, you may do so by calling 360-964-0561 or by stopping by during open hours.
